About This Machine

"Spirit of" is not a machine that was ever actually manufactured - it survives only as backglass artwork by Dave Christensen bearing the Bally name, for a proposed electro-mechanical game with an American History theme. As far as is known, the game was never produced, and it's unclear whether it was ever seriously under consideration by Bally.

Because no game was built, no gameplay details, rules, or feature set exist to describe. What remains is simply the artwork itself, which places the concept within the long tradition of American-history-themed pinball art.

Pieces like this offer a glimpse into pinball manufacturers' unused concepts and design process rather than a playable piece of history. As an unproduced concept, "Spirit of" is chiefly of interest to collectors and historians of pinball ephemera and backglass art rather than as a machine to be played.
