About This Machine

Guardians of the Galaxy (Pro) is a licensed Marvel-themed addition to Stern Pinball's catalog, released in November 2017. Designed by John Borg with art by Christopher Franchi, this solid-state machine (running Stern's SPIKE 2 system) takes players on an intergalactic adventure themed around the Guardians of the Galaxy characters.

The playfield centers on a motorized-jaw Groot "bash toy" that locks balls for multiball, alongside a static Rocket figurine and a static Orb toy with an illuminated Infinity Stone. Players work two flippers, three pop bumpers, seven standup targets, a diverter magnet, a drop target, a bar target, and a scoop, with a button on the lockdown bar adding an extra control element. The game features speech and stereo sound.

The design and artwork use a translite in place of a traditional backglass, paired with decal cabinet artwork and powder-coated black wrinkle-finish legs, hinges, lockdown bar, and side armor. RGB LEDs are used for playfield inserts and the shot arrow, with general illumination from white LEDs and an RGB LED on the front lockdown bar. At an MSRP of $6,199, the Pro model offered an accessible entry point into Stern's Guardians of the Galaxy lineup.
