About This Machine

The Wonder Woman pinball machine never made it past the concept stage. What survives are rough concept drawings for an Atari Wonder Woman pinball game, created under the internal code name "Roulette," during Atari's years as a pinball manufacturer (1976-1983). The drawings are undated; artist Evelyn Seto, who worked at Atari for two to three years, told IPDB she does not remember the exact year but believes the art was probably created around 1978.

Because the game was never produced, essentially nothing is known about its intended gameplay mechanics. It would have used a Fictional Characters theme built around the Wonder Woman character, and was designed as a widebody, four-player Solid State Electronic machine, but beyond the surviving artist's sketches, no further design or engineering details exist.

As an unproduced concept, Wonder Woman offers a rare glimpse into Atari's design process rather than a finished product—a reminder that not every game that reaches the sketch stage makes it to the factory floor.
