Houdini "Master Mystery"

Houdini "Master Mystery" was an announced but ultimately unreleased pinball machine from American Pinball Inc., designed by John Popadiuk with art by Matt Andrews. As a planned tribute to the legendary magician Harry Houdini, the game was intended to explore the world of escape artistry and illusion, with a suggested retail price of $6,995 as shown on the promotional flyer.

This version of the game was never produced. American Pinball instead replaced it with 2017's "Houdini Master of Mystery," which used a playfield from a different designer (Joe Balcer) along with a different backbox and artwork. As a result, little is known about the specific gameplay mechanics that would have appeared in this original "Master Mystery" design, since it never reached production.

The game's name was distinctively displayed in quotation marks—Houdini "Master Mystery"—on its planned backglass, a detail carried over from the promotional materials for the cancelled release.
