Arrow
About This Machine
Arrow, manufactured by Ripepi of Messina, Italy, is a copy of Gottlieb's 1977 'Golden Arrow', with its backglass image reversed so the warrior faces left instead of right. The manufacturer's name does not appear on the backglass or visible playfield areas but is printed on the cardholder. Its exact year of production is unknown.
The Arrow's gameplay features two flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, six standup targets, two spinning targets, and a single star rollover. It is operator-adjustable for add-a-ball or 5-ball play and has no replay mechanism in the backbox, instead using seven-digit score reel scoring with two dummy zeroes.
As an Italian-made clone of an American Gottlieb design, Arrow reflects a common practice among some European manufacturers of the era: reproducing successful American pinball games, sometimes with altered artwork, for regional markets. Its American West theme and wedge-head cabinet closely follow the original Golden Arrow it was based on.
