Luna Park
About This Machine
Luna Park, produced by Cedes S.A. of Barcelona, Spain, is a single-player electro-mechanical machine with an amusement park and circus/carnival theme. Its exact release date isn't documented, but its EM construction places it among the earlier era of Spanish pinball manufacturing.
Gameplay includes two flippers, four pop bumpers, two slingshots, four standup targets, and a messenger ball feature. The cabinet uses a reverse wedge-head backbox, and per the original flyer, the machine includes mechanical backbox animation: a clown's arm moves up and down via a rotating disk to "move" a strength-tester gauge across a scale from 0 to 9.
The circus/carnival theme comes through in colorful artwork befitting its amusement-park setting. Little is documented about the machine's designer, but its distinctive backbox animation and reverse wedge-head cabinet make it a notable example of Cedes S.A.'s output.
