About This Machine

The Marvel Spider-Man (Home Edition), designed by George Gomez and released by Stern Pinball in November 2016, is a home-market version of Stern's full-size Spider-Man (Vault Edition) game, sharing the same cabinet side art but with different front-of-cabinet artwork in place of a coin door. This was not Stern's first Spider-Man title — the company had already released a well-regarded Spider-Man pinball back in 2007 — but rather a non-commercial home model variant built for private buyers.

Running on Stern's SPIKE™ system, the game features two flippers, three pop bumpers (with the top two operating simultaneously), two slingshots that also operate simultaneously, two ramps, a 3-bank drop target, a spinning target, a 2X scoring mode, and 2-, 3-, or 4-ball multiball. It includes custom speech, an LED dot-matrix display, a cabinet-mounted speaker, and all-LED playfield illumination. A Doc Ock figurine serves as the game's signature toy.

While the manufacturer's flyer and the game itself don't display an official name, this home version is reportedly known internally as "Spider-Man The Pin." Software for the title was handled by Dean Grover and Mike Kyzivat.
