About This Machine

Stock-Cars is an electro-mechanical pinball machine whose manufacturer has not been identified. The only clue to its maker is a partial logo — the letters "A.S" inside a diamond outline, along with the words "AS DISTRIBUTOR" — stamped on the ball shooter gauge and the backbox stepper unit chassis.

The single-player, auto-racing themed machine features two flippers (both activated by a single coil), three pop bumpers, five passive bumpers, two slingshots, and triple outlanes. Its French-language instruction card explains the rules: light bumpers 1 through 5 in sequence to raise their value to 100,000 points and light the Special lanes under each flipper, hit bumper #6 to restart a race, and advance the "cars" by hitting bumpers #6 and #7 to collect additional laps. Replays are awarded at 5, 7, and 8 million points, and for reaching 5, 8, or 9 laps.

With its untraced manufacturer and detailed racing-themed ruleset, Stock-Cars remains a mystery machine of interest to collectors researching lesser-documented European pinball history.
