Deuces Wild
About This Machine
Deuces Wild, manufactured by Irving Kaye Co. Inc. of Brooklyn, New York, went into production in October 1958. It is a two-player rolldown game built around a playing-card poker theme, with side-by-side playfields and 29 trap holes for each player. Manufacturer ads listed the cabinet at 28 by 36 inches, though contemporary trade press described it as 28 by 32 inches.
Gameplay centers on five balls per player for five cents, with players competing side by side to sink balls into the trap holes for the best poker-style outcome. Its list price when new was $289.95 F.O.B. factory, a modest cost that fit within the range of coin-operated amusements of the late 1950s.
Details about the machine's designer and artwork have not survived, but its dual side-by-side playfields and rolldown mechanics distinguish it from typical flipper pinball machines of the same period.
