Spinning Wheel
About This Machine
The Spinning Wheel is an electro-mechanical pinball machine manufactured by Talleres del Llobregat S.A. (trade name Automaticos) of Barcelona, Spain. Its exact production date is unconfirmed, though a date of 1970 has been reported but not verified.
Gameplay features two flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, four standup targets, and three kick-out holes, along with a right outlane ball return gate. Except for the number and arrangement of the pop bumpers, the playfield layout closely resembles Williams' 1969 machine "Smart Set," including a points wheel on the playfield.
The card holder displays the manufacturer's logo, a global map overlaid with the word "Automatics" (a variant spelling of Automaticos). The playfield's upper left corner has the manufacturer's metal inspection plate, which likely holds a more precise production date. As a Spanish-made EM machine with a design closely mirroring an American Williams title, Spinning Wheel offers an interesting example of how playfield designs crossed borders during this period.
