Avengers The Pin™
About This Machine
The Avengers The Pin, released by Stern Pinball in January 2013, was a notable milestone for the company: alongside 2012's Transformers The Pin, it was one of the first two games built on Stern's new SPIKE System MPU. Marketed as a lower-cost, non-commercial "home model," it used the new modular electronics platform as a pilot run before Stern expanded SPIKE into its more complex commercial machines, the next being 2015's Wrestlemania (Pro).
As a two-player, licensed Marvel Comics machine, Avengers The Pin keeps its feature set compact: two flippers, three pop bumpers, and two slingshots, with a molded Hulk figurine and a plastic cube as its centerpiece toys. Its smaller scale reflects its role as an affordable home unit rather than a full commercial pinball.
The playfield layout and feature placement were designed by veteran designer George Gomez, with artwork by Kevin O'Connor, mechanics by Tom Kopera, and sound and music by David Thiel. While detailed public information about this specific model is limited, its place in pinball history as an early SPIKE System title makes it a notable footnote for collectors and historians of Stern's electronics evolution.
