Ghostbusters (Pro)
About This Machine
The Ghostbusters (Pro) pinball machine, designed by John Trudeau and released in 2016 by Stern Pinball, pays tribute to the beloved 1984 film, with a translite depicting the movie's four principal characters. Running on Stern's SPIKE system, it combines classic pinball mechanics with modern electronics.
Gameplay-wise, the Ghostbusters (Pro) boasts an array of interactive elements, including two flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, nine standup targets, six captive balls, two drop targets, and two kick-out holes. A vertical up-kicker, spinning target, Newton ball, and an upper playfield with a post all contribute to the machine's layout. Stereo sound and custom speech — courtesy of original Ghostbuster Ernie Hudson — add to the atmosphere, and the game features a color-changing Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, a motorized animated Slimer, a 3D firehouse, and a city skyline as its toys.
Visually, the Ghostbusters (Pro) uses a translite instead of a backglass, decal cabinet artwork, black powder-coated legs and armor, and LED lighting throughout the pop bumpers and playfield arrow inserts. At an MSRP of $5,995, it offered a more affordable entry point into the Ghostbusters lineup alongside the Premium and Limited Edition models.
