Spider-Man (Vault Edition)
About This Machine
The Spider-Man (Vault Edition), designed by Steve Ritchie and released by Stern Pinball in 2016, is an updated reissue of Stern's original 2007 Spider-Man machine, based on the Spider-Man comic books rather than any of the theatrical movies. Priced at $7,595 when new, it belongs to Stern's Vault series, which revives earlier titles with refreshed manufacturing.
The playfield carries over the gameplay of the original: three flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, fourteen standup targets, two vertical up-kickers, a spinning target, and an electromagnet, along with a motorized dropping bank that adds an element of timing and strategy. Custom speech rounds out the experience, and the game features Green Goblin, Venom, Sandman, and Doc Ock figurines.
Visually, the Vault Edition updates the presentation with a backglass in place of a translite, a decal speaker panel, black powder-coated laser-cut side rails, and all-LED playfield illumination alongside a fluorescent backbox tube — details that modernize the classic Spider-Man cabinet while preserving its familiar layout and character.
