About This Machine

Sunset Riders is a re-themed electro-mechanical pinball machine from 2015, built on the hardware of Bally's 1977 classic 'Eight Ball.' Rather than an original design, it takes the well-known Eight Ball platform and gives it a surfing and water-sports makeover, complete with a sun-kissed playfield theme. Its specific manufacturer is unknown, and it can be found in any of five cabinet colors (orange, yellow, green, blue, and silver) paired with three different backglasses.

Because it's built on Eight Ball's electro-mechanical chassis, gameplay offers the tactile, mechanical feel of a classic late-1970s EM machine rather than a modern digital pinball. The surfing theme layered on top gives an otherwise familiar EM game a distinctive, colorful new identity.

With limited documentation available on who produced this re-theme or why, Sunset Riders remains something of a curiosity: a decades-old EM classic given a fresh coat of paint and a beach theme decades after its original release.
