Racing
About This Machine
The Racing pinball machine is a fascinating and enigmatic relic from the early days of electro-mechanical (EM) pinball. Its manufacturer and exact date remain unknown, though the game appears to be a copy or conversion of G. M. Laboratories' 1936 'Soccer.' It is a flipperless pin table, with photographs of a surviving example sent from France in 2015.
One of the standout features of Racing is its use of ten kickers, styled as mannikins that use their legs to propel the ball toward an "Upper Goal" target. Beneath the playfield are two large coils that appear to control the movement of a goalie figure, adding an extra layer of mechanical complexity to the gameplay.
Little is known about this machine's production numbers or history, but its soccer theme and mannikin kickers make it a distinctive and rare example of 1930s-era flipperless sports pinball.
