About This Machine

Majorettes (No. 2), designed by Harry Mabs for the Williams Manufacturing Company, is a single-player electro-mechanical pinball built around a majorettes-and-parades theme. Its playfield drawing, marked Model 69, is dated February 11, 1952, and was later annotated "Majorettes #2" by designer Steve Kordek, distinguishing it from Williams' earlier 'Majorettes (No. 1).'

Gameplay centers on two flippers, five pop bumpers, and five kick-out holes. The game uses an unusual tilt rule: a tilt does not end the ball in play but instead applies a penalty, which is reset only when the ball passes through a roll-under wire at the bottom of the playfield, below the flippers.

Details about the extent of Majorettes (No. 2)'s production and how many examples survive are not well documented, but its design pedigree -- tied to two influential Williams designers -- makes it of interest to collectors of early-1950s EM pinball.
