About This Machine

New City is a rare electro-mechanical (EM) pinball machine from 1966, manufactured by Procedimientos Electromagnéticos de Tanteo y Color of Madrid, Spain (trade name Petaco, S.A.). It is a Spanish copy of Gottlieb's 1965 'Kings & Queens,' adapted for the domestic market with a cards/gambling theme.

Gameplay-wise, New City boasts a range of features that set it apart from other EM machines of the era. Two flippers provide ample opportunities for players to control the ball's trajectory, while three pop bumpers and two passive bumpers create challenging interactions with the playfield. Two slingshots add an extra layer of complexity, propelling the ball into high-scoring areas. Notably, the machine features four relay kick-out holes and a wedge head, characteristic design elements of its time.

The maximum displayed point score of 1,999 points adds to the vintage charm of this remarkable machine, which was priced at 43,300 pesetas when new. Unfortunately, little additional information about New City's specific artwork has surfaced in research, leaving enthusiasts to appreciate its rarity and historical importance as a Spanish adaptation of a classic Gottlieb design.
