Millón
About This Machine
Millón is a rare and intriguing example of early electro-mechanical pinball design from Billares Cordoba, a lesser-known manufacturer from Barcelona, Spain. With its unconfirmed year of release (possibly 1956), Millón's significance lies in its contribution to the evolution of pinball mechanics during the EM era. While little is known about this machine, its unique combination of features makes it a valuable addition to any collection or exhibit.
Notably, Millón boasts an impressive array of gameplay elements, including two flippers, three pop bumpers, three passive bumpers, two slingshots, and three rollover buttons. The standout feature is the standup target on the playfield, which, when the top rollovers are lit, awards a staggering 1 million points. This emphasis on scoring opportunities reflects the competitive spirit that defined early pinball design; Millón is one of a small handful of EM games of the era with a million-point shot, alongside Billares Cordoba's own 'Ferry-Boat,' Williams' 1957 'Arrow Head,' and Gottlieb's 1957 'Royal Flush.'
Millón's design and artwork are understated, with no game name appearing on the backglass, playfield, or lower apron. The machine's most distinctive feature is the metal cigarette holder mounted on the left side of the cabinet, a quirky touch that adds to its nostalgic charm. As one of the few remaining examples of Billares Cordoba's output, Millón offers a fascinating glimpse into the early days of pinball and the creative experimentation that defined this era.
