Tour (One Bicycle)
About This Machine
The Tour (One Bicycle) pinball machine, manufactured in 1962 by Procedimientos Electromagnéticos de Tanteo y Color (trade name Petaco, S.A.) of Madrid, Spain, is an early example of that manufacturer's output - Petaco began business that same year. It is one of two similarly named 'Tour' games from Petaco made around the same time, distinguished mainly by the number of bicyclists depicted on the backglass; this version shows a single cyclist and a tour map.
The machine's playfield is very similar to Petaco's companion game, 'Tour (Two Bicycles),' with differences mainly in color scheme. Players interact with two flippers and seven pop bumpers, and the cabinet has a distinctive mosaic tile finish along with metal rails fitted with cigarette holders and wood legs - details reflecting the cafe and bar culture where these games were often placed in Spain.
The Tour's significance lies less in being an industry first and more in its status as a well-documented early product of Petaco, a manufacturer that would go on to operate in Madrid from 1962 to 1977. Its relative rarity and modest documentation have contributed to its appeal among collectors and historians interested in Spanish pinball manufacturing of the 1960s.
