About This Machine

Big Ben (Italy) is the add-a-ball version of Segasa's 1975 'Big Ben' from Spain, manufactured specifically for export to the Italian market. In an interesting branding choice, its backglass prominently displays the Williams name above the game's title instead of Segasa's, with text noting it was made "By Segasa under licence" — reportedly to boost its appeal to Italian buyers. Unlike the domestic replay version of the game, this add-a-ball edition has no replay window.

Gameplay on Big Ben features two flippers, two DC-powered pop bumpers, and two slingshots that add a layer of challenge to the player's experience. Three drop targets and a standup target create opportunities for players to earn points, and an end-of-ball bonus rewards players as their game comes to a close. Seven score reels track the action throughout play.

The World Places - Landmarks theme is reflected in Big Ben's artwork. While little is documented about the machine's designer, its unusual export branding and add-a-ball mechanics make it a notable piece of 1970s Spanish pinball manufacturing history.
