About This Machine
The Iron Man (Pro Vault Edition), released by Stern Pinball in July 2014, is a re-release of Stern's original 2010 'Iron Man' pinball machine, based on the Marvel films Iron Man and Iron Man 2. The Vault Edition updated the original with a 100% LED playfield, decal cabinet artwork, and other refreshed components while retaining the core game.
Gameplay features a motorized Iron Monger figurine that rises from beneath the playfield, alongside Whiplash and War Machine action figures. Players battle through modes themed around Tony Stark's adversaries from the films. The cabinet is advertised at 55 inches long, 27 inches wide, and 75.5 inches high, weighing roughly 250 lbs, and carried an MSRP of $5,495.
As a callback release rather than a new game, the Iron Man Pro Vault Edition let Stern bring back a popular earlier title with modernized components, reflecting the growing appetite among manufacturers for revisiting successful licensed themes.
