About This Machine

The World Series pinball machine, manufactured by Sankyo Precision Equipment Company, Ltd. of Tokyo, Japan, is a rare and intriguing example of early electro-mechanical (EM) pinball design. While its exact production date remains unknown, this baseball-themed game showcases the innovative mechanics and artistic flair that defined the EM era of pinball's history.

A key aspect of The World Series' gameplay lies in its interactive animation system. At the start of each play, a ball is served to the home plate of the playfield's animated unit, which features moving balls representing runners on base. As the player navigates the game, the actions of the ball in play cause the animation ball to move around the unit from base to base, creating a dynamic and immersive experience. The machine also boasts unique scoring mechanisms, with different holes marked for 1, 2, or 3 bases, as well as special areas for Home Runs and Foul Balls.

The World Series' design and art are notable for their time period, featuring a distinctive wedge-shaped head and colorful artwork that evokes the excitement of America's favorite pastime. The machine's use of dual outlanes, gobble holes, and kick-out holes adds to its complexity and challenge. Unfortunately, little is known about this game beyond its mechanics and gameplay features, leaving enthusiasts to appreciate it for its rarity and historical significance within the world of pinball.
