AC/DC (LUCI Premium)
About This Machine
The AC/DC (LUCI Premium) is a Stern Pinball machine that channels the energy of the iconic Australian hard rock band AC/DC. Released in December 2013, this Premium edition was designed by Steve Ritchie, with artwork by Kevin O'Connor and software by Lyman F. Sheats Jr. It stands apart from Stern's earlier 2012 AC/DC (Premium) release, most visibly through its red powder-coated side rails, lockdown bar, backbox hinge, and legs.
The gameplay is loaded with music-driven action: four flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, eight standup targets, a 5-bank drop target, a 3-bank drop target, and a spinning target keep the ball in constant motion. A rotating ball cannon and a lower mini-playfield add extra shots, while a swinging bell with a mounted pinball and a TNT detonator with a moving handle serve as standout toys. Factory LEDs illuminate the inserts, general illumination, and special effects throughout the machine.
Measuring 55 inches long, 27 inches wide, and 75.5 inches high, and weighing about 250 pounds, the AC/DC (LUCI Premium) is a substantial machine. Its lower mini-playfield features exclusive artwork with the band's name and a woman on each side, artwork not found on other versions of the game. The "LUCI" name — reportedly short for "Lucifer," though not confirmed anywhere on the machine itself — adds one more layer of mystery to this rock-themed machine, which carried an MSRP of $7,699 and is built exclusively for 60Hz North American power.
