Elektro-Bomber (Brillant Type 1)
About This Machine
The Elektro-Bomber (Brillant Type 1) is an electro-mechanical (EM) pinball machine produced by T.H. Bergmann & Company, a German manufacturer active from 1938 to 1968. Its exact year of production is unknown, though it is believed to date from the late 1930s. Unlike the Elektro-Bomber (Type B) and (Type C), this version has a backbox.
The game features twenty spring bumpers along with lights and bells, and a chrome metal playfield advertised at 52 x 100 cm. It is a flipperless, single-player machine with a maximum displayed score of 200,000 points — considerably higher than the Type C's 80,000. A version with 25 bumpers is known as the Elektro-Bomber (Brillant Type 2).
The machine's original theme is not documented in surviving materials, though its name suggests a "bomber" or aviation-related concept common to games of the period. An English translation of the original flyer survives, but further details about its design and reception remain unknown, making it an intriguing subject for collectors and historians of early European pinball.
