Star Trek (Starfleet Pro)
About This Machine
The Star Trek (Starfleet Pro) pinball machine, designed by Steve Ritchie and released by Stern Pinball in 2013, was advertised by the manufacturer as their first "Pro" model to feature all-LED lighting. As a licensed title based on the Star Trek science fiction franchise, it brought the property to Stern's entry-level Pro lineup, distinct from the game's Premium and Limited Edition counterparts.
At its core, Star Trek (Starfleet Pro) boasts an array of features: three flippers, 14 standup targets, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, a memory drop target, a 2-way kick-out hole, and a spinning target, combined with multiball play. A free ball return lane behind the flipper and a lockdown bar "Fire" button add extra interactivity. The sole named toy on this model is a USS Vengeance starship (without the crash effect found on other versions of the game).
From a design perspective, the backbox uses a translite (rather than a glass backglass) featuring the Star Trek "Starfleet" Pro artwork, while the side rails, lockdown bar, and legs are finished in black. Notably, this Pro model does not include the left outlane kickback found on some other versions. With its blend of accessible gameplay and Star Trek theming, it offered a lower-cost entry point (MSRP $5,395) into Stern's Star Trek pinball line.
