Metallica (Premium Road Case)
About This Machine
Metallica (Premium Road Case), released in 2013 by Stern Pinball, is a distinctive variant within Stern's music-themed Metallica lineup. Designed by John Borg, it brings the intensity of the heavy metal band to the playfield for fans of both music and pinball.
Gameplay-wise, Metallica features a blend of challenging shot-making, with players navigating the layout using two flippers, three pop bumpers, and two slingshots to score points. A bar target adds an extra layer of strategy as players aim to hit it to activate various modes.
The machine's design and artwork are notable: the cabinet features the so-called "Road Case" theme, evoking the look of touring road cases, while the backbox translite showcases a photographic representation of the band members. Brendon Small provided the voices for "Sparky" and "The Snake" heard during gameplay. This edition carried an MSRP of $6,995 when new, making it a pricier alternative to the standard Pro model.
