Pittsburgh Penguins
About This Machine
The Pittsburgh Penguins pinball machine is an unusual custom re-theme: originally built as Interflip's 1977 electro-mechanical (EM) game 'Dragon,' it was converted into a Pittsburgh Penguins-themed hockey machine, with the first of two known units completed in January 2013.
As a re-themed game, its underlying playfield mechanics and hardware date back to the original 1977 'Dragon,' retrofitted with new artwork and an ice hockey theme celebrating Pittsburgh's NHL team. Only two units are confirmed to have been produced, making it an extremely rare, essentially one-off collector's piece rather than a mass-produced title.
With no detailed documentation of its specific rule set or feature changes available, the Pittsburgh Penguins stands out mainly as a curiosity: a decades-old EM machine given new life and a fresh sports theme nearly 40 years after its original production.
