4-IN-1 (Poker)
About This Machine
The 4-IN-1 (Poker) pinball machine, designed by Barry Oursler and released in 1985 by Williams Electronics Games, Incorporated, offered a poker-themed twist on the traditional pinball experience. This solid-state electronic machine was one of four interchangeable-overlay games (Poker, Football, Baseball, and Soccer) that shipped in the same cabinet, allowing operators to swap the playfield overlay and instruction card to convert the machine between themes.
One of the most distinctive features of 4-IN-1 (Poker) is its three-hand poker game system. Each player receives one credit and is dealt three hands of five cards each, with the goal of accumulating points by forming valid poker combinations. Only 100 of these machines were produced, and Williams also attempted to market the game to the home market through catalogs like Sharper Image and Hammacher-Schlemmer, though sales results were disappointing.
The 4-IN-1 (Poker) features a relatively simple cabinet design with an emphasis on clear card displays. The artwork, though straightforward, effectively conveys the poker theme. Given its limited production run of only 100 units, it remains a rare and notable piece of Williams' mid-1980s multi-theme experimentation.
