About This Machine

The Mus pinball machine is a rare and intriguing example of early electro-mechanical design from Spain's Procedimientos Electromagnéticos de Tanteo y Color (Petaco, S.A.), which operated in Madrid between 1962 and 1977. While the manufacturer produced a range of machines during this period, Mus stands out for its unusual playing-card theme — 'Mus' being the name of a card game popular in Spain. Its exact release date is unconfirmed, though the earliest known images come from a 1967 Spanish film, 'Club de Solteros,' and one Spanish collector recalls playing the game as early as 1964.

Gameplay on the Mus features two flippers, three pop bumpers, two passive bumpers, and five standup targets, all set against the card-game theme. The machine's wedge-shaped backglass adds visual interest, while the maximum displayed point score of 1,999 points hints at scoring depth. Some observed examples share cabinet artwork with Gottlieb's 1961 'Corral,' though the backglass layout and metal (rather than wood) side rails differ, suggesting a distinct design rather than a direct copy.

While little is known about the Mus's designer or full release history, it remains a fascinating piece of Spanish pinball heritage, produced under the Petaco trade name alongside the company's other domestic machines.
