Time Machine
About This Machine
Time Machine is a four-player solid-state electronic pinball machine manufactured by LTD do Brasil Diversões Eletrônicas Ltda of Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, between 1977 and 1984. Rather than an original design, it borrows its playfield layout from Williams' 1983 machine "Time Fantasy," while its backglass art is copied from Atari's 1978 machine "Middle Earth" — or more precisely, from the promotional flyer for that game.
The machine carries a fantasy theme in keeping with its source material, though specific gameplay details beyond the borrowed playfield layout are not documented in surviving records.
Its exact production year and designer remain unknown. Like several other LTD do Brasil titles, Time Machine is best understood as a Brazilian repackaging of existing American designs — in this case combining elements from two different U.S. manufacturers — rather than a standalone creative work, which makes it a notable example of cross-manufacturer borrowing in the South American pinball market of the era.
