Dragon
About This Machine
Dragon is an electro-mechanical, four-player pinball machine assembled by Fipermatic Indústria Comércio Importação e Exportação Ltda of Manaus, Brazil. Rather than being an original design, it is a Brazilian-built copy of Gottlieb's 1978 machine "Dragon," produced through the "Gottlieb Made In Brazil" program, in which Gottlieb shipped unassembled game components to Manaus — a tax-free zone — for local assembly by Fipermatic. Surviving units retain the Gottlieb logo on the upper playfield, confirming the connection to the original American release.
The game carries Gottlieb's original fantasy theme and gameplay elements, including two flippers, two pop bumpers, four star rollovers, two vari-targets, and a spinning target. As with other Gottlieb Made In Brazil titles, it shares the maximum displayed score of 199,990 points per player.
Far from being an independent mystery machine, Dragon is a documented example of Gottlieb's international manufacturing arrangements, offering insight into how the company extended its late-1970s catalog into the Brazilian market through local assembly partnerships.
