Tiro's
About This Machine
Tiro, a rare and enigmatic electro-mechanical pinball machine from Maquinas Recreativas Sociedad Anonima (Maresa) of Madrid, Spain, has piqued the interest of collectors and historians alike. Little is known about this machine, as only a backglass has been documented so far, making its discovery all the more intriguing. It is considered a replay game, and its backglass is a near copy of the one used on Gottlieb's 1968 'Fun Land', which used four score reels.
Despite the lack of information on gameplay features and notable design elements, it's likely that Tiro shared many characteristics with other EM machines of its time, given its close relationship to the Gottlieb original it references. The Amusement Park theme is reminiscent of other pinball designs from the era, where designers often drew inspiration from popular culture and everyday leisure activities.
One interesting aspect of Tiro's design is its Spanish origin, which sets it apart from more well-known American-made machines. As a rare example of Iberian pinball craftsmanship, Tiro offers collectors and enthusiasts a glimpse into the lesser-explored corners of pinball history.
