AC/DC Back In Black (Limited Edition)
About This Machine
The AC/DC Back In Black Limited Edition pinball machine, designed by Steve Ritchie and manufactured by Stern Pinball in March 2012, is one of several AC/DC-themed editions Stern produced that year -- alongside the AC/DC (Premium) and AC/DC (Let There Be Rock Limited Edition) -- with this variant produced in a limited run of approximately 300 units and its backglass bearing the name 'AC/DC Back In Black.'
The machine shares its robust rule set and playfield design with its sibling AC/DC editions: four flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, eight standup targets, 5-bank and 3-bank drop targets, a rotating ball cannon, and a shaker motor. A swinging bell with a mounted pinball and a lower mini-playfield add extra layers of complexity, while a moving band-members diorama and an AC/DC Rock N Roll Train toy round out the theming.
A fire button on the lockdown bar launches the ball and lets players select from twelve AC/DC tracks, drawing on the band's catalog rather than any single album. Measuring 55 inches long, 27 inches wide, and 75 1/2 inches high, and weighing 250 pounds, this Back In Black Limited Edition carried an MSRP of $8,499 when new, making it a sought-after piece for collectors of Stern's AC/DC pinball lineup.
