About This Machine

The AC/DC (Premium) pinball machine, designed by Steve Ritchie, was released by Stern Pinball in March 2012 as part of Stern's licensed AC/DC music theme. This solid-state, S.A.M.-board machine brings the band's stage energy to the playfield, with dot-matrix animation by Mark Galvez and Tom Kyzivat, sound design by David Thiel, and software by Lyman F. Sheats Jr.

Gameplay is built around four flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, eight standup targets, banks of drop targets (5-bank and 3-bank), a spinning target, and a rotating ball cannon. A lower mini-playfield adds an extra layer of complexity, while a swinging bell with a mounted pinball and a TNT detonator with a moving handle serve as the game's signature toys, alongside a moving band-members diorama and a model train. Factory LEDs light the inserts and general illumination throughout.

Housed in a cabinet powder-coated red on its rails, hinge, and legs, and measuring 55 inches long, 27 inches wide, and 75 1/2 inches high at 250 pounds, the AC/DC (Premium) carried an MSRP of $7,699 when new. It shouldn't be confused with the similarly named 2013 'AC/DC (LUCI Premium),' a later, distinct release from Stern.
