All Stars
About This Machine
All Stars, released by Bally Manufacturing Corporation in April 1936, is a single-player electro-mechanical payout machine from the era before flippers, when many pin games rewarded skilled or lucky play with coin payouts rather than replays. It carried model number 90.
The game is very similar to Bally's 1936 'Hialeah' (model 91), but adds Double Award and Mystery Award payouts, giving players extra chances at a return on their coin. It was also issued as model 92 in a ticket-payout version, reflecting the varied gambling and novelty regulations operators faced in different territories at the time.
As a mid-1930s payout game, All Stars offers a glimpse into a distinctive chapter of pinball's development, when the line between amusement and gambling equipment was still being drawn and manufacturers like Bally built their early fortunes on machines exactly like this one.
