Lucky Card
About This Machine
Lucky Card, manufactured by Eagle of Italy, is an electro-mechanical pinball machine and an example of the Add-A-Ball format built around a playing-cards theme. It appears to be a conversion of Gottlieb's 1977 'Lucky Card,' though it's possible this was new manufacture rather than a straight conversion — more information is needed to confirm which.
The machine features two flippers, three pop bumpers, and a 9-bank of drop targets, but no slingshots. A distinctive touch is its open-elbow inlanes, which allow the ball to pass between inlane and outlane and back again, creating unpredictable ball flow. The backbox includes a digital display and a sound card with speaker — notable since the pop bumpers themselves are of the style first used on Rally's 1966 'Rally Girl.'
The playing-cards theme is rendered in traditional style, and while no details about a specific designer have surfaced, Lucky Card remains an interesting example of European EM pinball manufacturing and conversion practices in the years following Gottlieb's original release.
