The Best Texas Ranger

The Best Texas Ranger, produced by Skillgame d.b.a. Renato Montanari Giochi (R.M.G.) of Bologna, Italy, is an Italian add-a-ball adaptation of Gottlieb's 1972 'Texas Ranger'. Its exact production year is unknown, but it stands as an example of Italian manufacturers reworking American EM designs for their own market.

The gameplay on The Best Texas Ranger features 2 flippers, 2 pop bumpers, 2 slingshots, 10 drop targets, and 3 standup targets, providing an engaging and challenging experience for players. The game's standout feature is the parallel lanes of serial rollovers on the right side of the playfield, allowing for strategic ball control and potentially high-scoring combos. Additionally, the open-elbow inlane enables balls to pass between the inlane and outlane, adding a dynamic element to gameplay, and an end-of-ball bonus rewards accumulated play.

The machine's theme, American West - Law Enforcement, is depicted through its artwork and design elements, including a wedge head that likely features the game's name or logo. No information on the designer is available, but as a licensed add-a-ball rework of a well-known Gottlieb title, The Best Texas Ranger remains an interesting piece for collectors of European EM pinball.
