About This Machine

This enigmatic pinball machine has piqued the interest of historians and enthusiasts alike. It carries no manufacturer name or date anywhere on it -- the top rear trim shows two holes where a marquee was once mounted, which would have displayed the game's name, but the marquee itself is long lost.

The cabinet, ball shooter, coin slide, and rear access door closely resemble games sold by Gottlieb in 1931-32, and its cabinet and playfield decal bear a strong resemblance to Gottlieb's 1931 'Baffle Ball', one of the machines that helped launch the modern pinball industry. While this is not conclusive proof of manufacturer, it is the strongest clue available for dating and attributing this Pure Mechanical (PM) machine.

As with many surviving games from this early counter-game era, little else is known about specific gameplay features, artwork, or theme. Its lack of documentation only heightens interest among pinball historians seeking to trace its exact origins, but its close resemblance to an early Gottlieb classic makes it a valuable data point in understanding the earliest days of coin-operated pinball.
