Fantastic World
About This Machine
Fantastic World is a rare and enigmatic electro-mechanical (EM) pinball machine from Peyper of Spain. Its exact production year is unconfirmed — the owner of the known example reports having owned it since 1985 or 1986, with no dates visible on the machine itself — and its designer remains unknown. As a Spanish-made EM machine, it offers an interesting look at European pinball manufacturing outside the dominant American makers like Gottlieb and Williams.
This Fantasy-themed machine boasts an array of distinctive features. The playfield includes dual inlanes, two flippers, two pop bumpers, three messenger balls, three standup targets, a 4-bank drop target, and a kickerlane that feeds into the bonus ladder. The scoring system uses decagon score reels hidden inside the backbox, out of the player's view, complemented by an LED display the player does see. One intriguing detail is the long left-side lane feature: entered from the top of the playfield, it awards an extra ball if A-B-C is lit and the green drop target is down.
Fantastic World's design is equally distinctive, with a wedgehead backbox and a plexiglas-covered wood playfield. Its electronic sound is reportedly similar to the first generation of Gottlieb's System 1 sound boards. Despite the lack of confirmed production details or a known designer, Fantastic World remains an intriguing piece for collectors and historians, offering a glimpse into the lesser-known world of European pinball manufacturing.
