About This Machine

Space Circus is a Williams Electronics pinball design that, unlike most machines in this database, was never actually produced for sale. According to artist Seamus McLaughlin, only a whiteboard mockup and four backglasses were ever made -- the game never made it into full production or distribution.

Because Space Circus never reached the assembly line, virtually nothing is known about its intended gameplay, rules, or playfield layout. It stands as a curiosity: a solid-state electronic design that was at least partially illustrated (with McLaughlin's backglass artwork) but abandoned before completion.

Its main historical interest lies in what it represents -- a glimpse into a Williams project that didn't make it to market. Without surviving physical machines or documented rules, Space Circus remains largely a footnote, known today primarily through the recollections of the artist who worked on it.
