About This Machine

Black Magic, manufactured by Recel S. A. of Madrid, Spain in 1980, is a solid state electronic pinball machine that offers a glimpse into the evolution of pinball design during the late 1970s and early 1980s, during Recel's run from 1974 to 1986.

One of the machine's standout features is its open-elbow left inlane, which allows the ball to travel from the inlane to the outlane and vice versa. The game also boasts an array of interactive elements, including two pop bumpers, two slingshots, two three-bank drop targets, four standup targets, two messenger balls, and a spinning target.

The occult theme is executed with dark, mystical artwork. Unfortunately, little information is available about Black Magic's designer or specific achievements in competitive play. A four-player version of the same game was also released as 'Black Magic 4,' and a domestic Spanish version was produced under the Petaco name. This single-player export version remains an interesting find for collectors interested in Spanish pinball manufacturing of the era.
