Big Star
About This Machine
Big Star is an early bagatelle-style pure mechanical game manufactured by the Lindstrom Tool and Toy Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut, sometime during the company's brief 1932-1934 run. It is a variation of Lindstrom's later "Rocket Shot" (1934) and measures a compact 12 by 24 inches, fitting the era's small counter and tabletop bagatelle format.
As a pure mechanical game, Big Star has no electrical components, relying entirely on gravity, springs, and simple mechanical obstacles to guide the ball toward scoring positions. No specific details survive about its playfield layout, artwork, or theme.
Lindstrom's operation lasted only a couple of years, and few records of its individual releases have survived, adding to the scarcity and historical interest of games like Big Star among collectors of early mechanical amusement devices.
