About This Machine

The Boston Red Sox is a one-of-a-kind, baseball-themed re-theme of Williams' 1970 electro-mechanical machine Straight Flush. Only a single unit is known to exist, making it an extremely rare custom conversion rather than a factory-produced release, and it offers an interesting look at how operators and hobbyists have historically re-skinned existing machines with new themes.

Because it is built on the Straight Flush platform, its underlying gameplay mechanics -- flippers, bumpers, and the era-typical electromechanical scoring of a 1970 Williams machine -- would be consistent with that title rather than an original design. Its artwork and cabinet decor, however, were reworked around a Boston Red Sox baseball theme, joining a long line of baseball-themed pinball machines dating back to titles like Baseball (1933).

As a one-off conversion rather than a documented commercial release, little else is recorded about who created the Boston Red Sox re-theme or when. Its rarity and singular nature make it a notable curiosity for collectors interested in customized and re-themed pinball machines.
