Big Buck Hunter Pro
About This Machine
The Big Buck Hunter Pro (January 2010) marks Stern Pinball's translation of the hit Big Buck Hunter arcade video game franchise into a licensed pinball experience. Designed by John Borg, with dot-matrix animation by Mark Galvez, sound by Ken Hale, and software by Lonnie D. Ropp and Lyman F. Sheats Jr., the solid-state game runs on Stern's S.A.M. board system and sends players on a hunting adventure through a variety of targets and scoring opportunities.
The pinball adaptation was developed in partnership with Big Buck Hunter's creators at Raw Thrills/Play Mechanix, reflecting Stern's broader strategy of translating popular arcade and video game franchises into pinball form. The cabinet was advertised at 55 inches long, 27 inches wide, and 75 1/2 inches high, weighing around 233-250 lbs, and carried an MSRP of $4,999 when new.
Big Buck Hunter Pro stands as an example of Stern's licensing partnerships during this era, bringing a well-known video game brand and its hunting theme to the pinball market for four-player competitive play.
