Tropical

Tropical, produced by Zaccaria of Bologna, Italy, is an electro-mechanical (EM) pinball machine built around a beach and recreation theme. It is a copy of Williams' 1973 'Tropic Fun,' reflecting the common practice among some European manufacturers of the era of reproducing successful American designs.

Key gameplay features include two flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, and seven standup targets. The layout is typical of EM pinballs of the period, with a focus on manual operation and skillful shot placement rather than elaborate electronic scoring.

The Tropical's beach theme is conveyed through artwork depicting palm trees, swimmers, and other tropical imagery, in keeping with Zaccaria's design sensibilities of the time. While specific production details and designer credits are not documented, its status as a licensed-in-spirit reproduction of an American hit makes it an interesting curiosity for collectors of early Zaccaria machines.
