Challenger
About This Machine
The Challenger, manufactured by Agamco, Inc. of Novi, Michigan, is an extremely rare solid-state pinball machine of which only three units are known to have been made, as a pre-production market tester. What makes this game unique is its head-to-head gameplay design, where two players compete simultaneously from opposite ends of the playfield, each controlling only the flippers facing their opponent.
This setup, similar in concept to Agamco's other head-to-head title 'Gotcha,' allows for dynamic, real-time competition between players, requiring them to think strategically about shot placement and timing while accounting for their opponent's moves.
Little is known about the Challenger's designer or theme, and with only three units ever produced, surviving examples are exceptionally scarce. Its unusual head-to-head mechanics and rarity make it a fascinating discovery for collectors and pinball historians alike.
