All Stars
About This Machine
All Stars, released by Chicago Coin Machine Manufacturing Company in February 1968, is a two-player electro-mechanical baseball bat game, model number 354. It continues the long line of coin-operated baseball games in which players swing a bat at pitched balls rather than using flippers.
The playfield features seven hanging targets and two unpainted metal ramps, which give the game a rugged, industrial look. A pitcher control lets the player choose between a curve, straight, or slider ball, adding a genuine layer of strategy and anticipation to each pitch. Lights on the backglass show men on bases, tracking the state of the inning as hits accumulate.
Notably, All Stars breaks from the usual bat-game convention of ending play after three outs: instead, the player gets 15 balls plus any earned extra balls. This design choice gives the game its own rhythm and makes it an interesting variation for fans of the baseball game genre.
