About This Machine

Ball Pool is a billiards-themed, single-player, add-a-ball pinball machine made in Italy by Renato Montanari Giochi (trade name R.M.G.). It is a copy of Gottlieb's 1972 'Play Pool'; the exact year of this Italian version is unconfirmed, as no copyright date was found on the example examined.

The gameplay in Ball Pool revolves around billiards-inspired targets and flippers. The machine features a 7-bank drop target bank on each side, two standup targets, a pop bumper, two slingshots, a kick-out hole, and left and right dual inlanes with no outlanes, making for a forgiving add-a-ball layout typical of the genre.

As a direct copy of an established Gottlieb title, Ball Pool is most interesting to collectors as an example of Italian manufacturers adapting popular American designs for the European market during the 1970s.
