About This Machine

"Follies of '45" is a flipperless conversion kit produced by Victory Games in July 1945, during the final months of World War II. It converted Genco's 1941 'Hi-Hat' into a new electro-mechanical game. The earliest known advertisement for the kit appeared in Coin Machine Digest on July 21, 1945, with Victory Games continuing to advertise it in Billboard through early 1946.

As a flipperless machine, gameplay relied on the ball's natural trajectory and mechanical targets rather than player-controlled flippers, a design typical of pre-flipper-era pinball and conversion kits of the mid-1940s. Specific rules and scoring details for this title are not well documented.

Victory Games operated only from 1942 to 1947, making surviving examples of their conversion kits relatively scarce today. "Follies of '45" was eventually succeeded by Victory Games' 1946 follow-up, "Follies of '46", reflecting the company's practice of refreshing its conversion kit lineup year to year.
