About This Machine

The Bally Manufacturing Corporation's Banner is a flipperless, single-player electro-mechanical pinball machine. Bally's own documentation does not list a pre-flipper game called "Banner," and the known example is identical to Bally's 1939 "Vogue," even carrying an instruction card marked "Vogue-2000-A" — suggesting the backglass name was changed to "Banner" sometime after the game left the factory.

Gameplay-wise, Banner offers five balls for five cents and features 15 passive bumpers on its playfield, providing players with a straightforward but engaging challenge typical of flipperless EM machines from this period.

Given its apparent connection to "Vogue," Banner is best understood as a relabeled variant rather than a distinct original release. It remains a curiosity for collectors interested in the naming quirks and rebadging practices of pre-flipper pinball manufacturing.
